Choosing Joy

I made a little video.  I’ve never made a video like this (and don’t plan to do it again) but I don’t know…. I started thinking about talking about fear, and I kept seeing the words in my head as little blurbs instead of one long written-out thing.

I apologize for the unprofessional-looking video, but it was my eighth attempt and I finally decided that I was just going to believe that you’d appreciate the message and forgive the imperfections.  🙂

Thank you soooo much for this video! It was EXACTLY what I needed! As fairly new unschoolers I often find myself living with so much fear, which of course is the exact opposite of why we chose this lifestyle! I find so much inspiration here, thank you for all you do!

Such a simple video, such a powerful message. Thank you!

  8. I have just recently found your site and, although my kids are teens (one is 18 and just “graduated”), your message here hit me where I needed to be prodded. I live in fear too much of the time- not just in parenting and schooling, but in life. Thank you for reminding me to keep choosing joy over fear.

Thank you Jen, Today I have been living in fear! the “What if” so today I went to a bookkeeping job and left my 17 year old home alone with his dog. I came home at lunch time and he was working with his Dad on our banking because he wants to build a boat. A boat!!! Really. Tonight I came home and he is in the process of drawing his plans on the wood he and his father bought, he is making out an envelope for the mail in rebate…he is doing it! I can let go and trust!!!!

All we have is this moment! I met a lady today in a very random set of circumstances right when she found out her brother-in-law is going on hospice! I told her about Eben Alexander’s Proof of Heaven and I told her about Ally Breedlove’s book of her brother Ben “When will heaven come?” The day before he died when he was 18 he posted a video in the same format you posted with the note cards. At the end of the day love is what matters. Thank you for reminding me fear has no place where there is love!
